The "Christmas around the world" project began in October 2022 in Porto, Portugal, when teachers Mihaela Perković and Ema Drokan participated in the Euneos course "How to make your school more international" as part of the Erasmus+ program.
They exchanged contacts with the teacher from the Netherlands and organized a zoom meeting in which children from our kindergarten and children from the Dutch kindergarten IKC de Sterrekijker from Dordrecht participated. Our little explorers sang Jingle Bells for their friends from Holland and taught them to say "Merry Christmas", while they sang their Christmas song to us and wished "Vrolijk kerstfeest" - Merry Christmas. Communication between the teachers and the children took place in English, and we sang Jingle Bells together.
We agreed that we would send each other Christmas presents, exchanged addresses, and started making greeting cards and auction hearts, which we sent to the Netherlands together with delicious Croatian sweets. We cannot judge whether we were happier and more excited when we sent our sweet gift to our friends in the Netherlands or when we received such a sweet gift ourselves. The children enthusiastically and impatiently opened a package full of greetings from our new friends and tasted sweets that we had never seen before - delicious Dutch waffles with caramel and cinnamon, unusual black licorice gummies and exquisite milk chocolates.

We are looking forward to new cooperation and package exchange with our new friends from Dordrecht.
